Organizing Director

UnifiEd is seeking an Organizing Director (Organizer Level IV) to orchestrate organizing operations, develop direct reports and indirectly manage volunteer activities, to fulfill the organization’s campaign goals. UnifiEd is a community-led movement of parents, teachers, and citizens who want every student in Chattanooga to have the chance to attend great public schools.

Qualified candidates must have: a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field; demonstrated ability to organize effectively over a long-term span (i.e. setting organizing goals, with timelines, and reaching those goals or have worked through at least one campaign from planning stages through implementation); strong character references; sound interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced and highly growing non-profit; a customer-focused approach and ability to learn and adapt to needs and changes quickly; and prior community, political or labor organizing experience. Bilingual skills and prior campaign experience in Chattanooga, TN is preferred.

Additional eligibility qualifications include: Flexibility to work long hours, nights and weekends: Ability to lead, motivate and inspire organizing staff, as well as developing citizens into leaders; Demonstrated ability to write field plans and execute them independently; Demonstrated ability to train new organizers in organizing practices; and Demonstrated ability to lead and manage other organizing staff.

Compensation and Benefits include: Salary of $50,000 per year; After 60-day probationary period, Employer will pay 90% of Health and Dental Insurance and grant 10 days paid vacation and 12 days sick leave; and 403b retirement plan with 3% match is available.

UnifiEd is a new kind of community movement, taking bold action to ensure a brilliant future for every student, teacher, and public school in Chattanooga. UnifiEd’s Student Voice Team brings students from different backgrounds together to raise student voice and start the change in their schools.

As a school organizer, you would be responsible for working with students from across Hamilton County to advocate for the changes your peers want to see in their schools. The job requires the studnet organizer to work up to 20 hours a month with flexible scheduling. We hope you will join us!
